Garcia was a student at Texas Christain University to study for some years after she finished high school. She then transferred to the University of Texas. When she arrived at Texas Christain, she experienced a highly competitive setting that made it easier for her to improve her golfing skills. Angela Akin Garcia chose journalism over golf despite finding happiness and fulfillment playing. So, once her university graduation she was offered the job of a Fox Sports Southwest journalist.
