Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering the natural and military disasters of more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry has written about the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry was an American journalist, TV news reporter and host who is best known as a correspondent for the Today program a morning broadcast news program aired on NBC. Curry's work was noted because of her coverage of human crises occurring in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan and raised by an Japanese mother. Her father served as an U.S. Navy sailor. She met her mother while working alongside their father during Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Due to her father's military service the family has moved around several times. They eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Curry along with her husband were frequently moving and she didn't stay in one school over a period of more than two years. The couple moved to various areas like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Then, she graduated from Ashland High School. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. at the age of 22, she became the first reporter to be female at KTVL. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter at KGW in Portland Oregon. Then, four years later she moved to Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. She was awarded two Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
